I have already done a factory reset on the chromecast, what to do now?
03-16-2025 02:57 AM
I had already reset my device and tried to remove and reinstall to my home network prior to this announcement. I hope there will be instructions provided for this this scenario as well.

Workaround: Change Date on smartphone to a date earlier than 6th of March, then add chromecast in your Home app. That made my Chromecast work again 🎉

How can you physically change the date on an iPhone ?it’s an automatic thing isn’t it?
03-16-2025 04:28 AM
Deactivate ‘Set date autmatically’ in General settings on you device. Then you can set to a specific date yourself. Both for Android and iPhone.

The first thing you do, when the cromecast went down, is to reset. So please give instructions how to resolve that problem, so that we can watch tv again. And hurry!!!

Factory reset? Changed date on your phone and setup.
Someone commented (sorry brothers, unable to track that angel's comment now that changing the date on your phone to 7th March (or prior) and setting up a Chromecast that got factory reset works.... I tried and IT WORKED!!!!!!
If that person sees this, Thank you!!
@GoogleNestTeam reward him.

You need to change the date on your phone to before the 7th. Go to Google home and re set up your Chromecast. It will pick up the new fix. Change your date back
03-16-2025 03:57 AM
When you say change the date wat you mean in the settings?
03-16-2025 04:16 AM
Go to settings - generally - date and time - turn of automatic time - set a time fx 1. mars. And then use your google home app. and add your cromecast again. On your TV you will se that it is making a update. Wait until it+s finished, and it should then be okay.

03-16-2025 04:03 AM
I had reset my device because I didn't know the issue and thought something was wrong with the WiFi etc. I have trouble to connect now, when will we get updates about people who reset it ?????
03-16-2025 04:05 AM
This is not good enough.
You recommend factory reset in your troubleshooting.
I did that, and now I am still waiting. Fix it

The answer is here in this thread. Find it, read it, do it.
