unfortunately the previous basic troubleshooting steps is to format the device as a last troubleshooting option. so most of the users have done it. so please share the solution ASAP

How can I make it where I get notified that there's an update on this issue?

For anyone that reseted (like me), changing the date from your mobile to March 8th and after updating your Chromecast, go back to the correct time and enjoy it. It worked fine for me.
03-16-2025 08:34 AM
Hello but on iPhones the date is automatic how did you do that?
03-16-2025 07:16 AM
How long now plesse? Driving me mad. I really need to cast ASAP. I m one of those that followed instructions initially and did a factory reset 😭
03-16-2025 07:17 AM
Fine

Guys, if you factory reset you ccst, it's easy to restore, simple as that:
Change the date from your phone to march 1st or less.
Than star the configuration process for ccst.
It will update 2 times, then it's done!
03-16-2025 07:24 AM
To GoogleNest:
There is a bug in the new update for ccst gen2.
When I use 'ok google' on my phone to pause a streaming, the ccst doesn't pause, it stops the video stream.
Can you look at it please? Thanks!

03-16-2025 07:34 AM
My chromecast worked 2 days ago. Yesterday the power button, volume, and mute buttons would work. I can’t scroll down or select any apps. Is this issue I’m experiencing have to do with this 2nd generation issue? I have replaced the batteries, unplugged it from the HDMi and everything. I tried holding down home button and now nothing is working. The light just pulses on the remote and eventually turns off after some time. This is beyond frustrating. I can’t even turn the tv off.

It's been 10 days since chromecast hasn't worked . What's the point in paying for apps when you lot can't fix the problem. Why is it taking so long and will you be refunding my subscriptions for everything I cannot watch ?
03-16-2025 08:06 AM
Olá,
Ontem à noite, alterei a data do celular, consegui configurar o chromecast, daí atualizei a data e deu certo, funcionou.
Hoje não está funcionando mais.

Found this on another thread.
TEMPORARY FIX FOR CHROMECAST CERTIFICATE EXPIRATION since Google is slow and incompetent and forgot to renew the certificate for Gen2 Chromecast and older!!!
***IF YOU HAD FACTORY RESET YOUR CHROMECAST and are having problems resetting up the Chromecast (Home App can't connect) ***You must follow these steps first before you fix your casting!!!
If you had unfortunately factory reset your Chromecast during this issue, go to your phone Date&Time settings and turn off automatic date set, manually change the date to March 7, 2025. Now try to set up the Chromecast again and it should work again.
If you didn't factory reset, Just proceed to the casting fix,
Download and install this Activity Manager app. I am not affiliated with it, but it's open sourceand seems to work as advertised. Note that you can download an APK directly from that page—you don't need to install F-Droid if you don't want to.
Launch the app and select "Intent launcher" from the dropdown in the upper right.
Tap the edit icon next to "Action" and paste in
com.google.android.gms.cast.settings.CastSettingsCollapsingDebugAction
Leave all other fields blank.
***On Android 11 and below, use
CastSettingsDebugAction
instead of cast setting collapsing debug action.
4. Tap the checkmark in the lower right.
5. In the settings popup panels that pops up, scroll down to "Connection" and click to enable "Bypass Device Auth".
You are done!

03-16-2025 08:44 AM
Do a reset, then change your device date for 8th March or previous, try to connect Chromecast again, do the installation normally. After that, it will get the update by itself. When finish, just put your phone back to the actual date. Hope it helps.

For all the people who performed a factory reset during their initial troubleshooting, this procedure will allow you to reconnect your Chromecast to your Wi-Fi network, so that it can receive the firmware update fix that Google started rolling out on 3/13.
1) Temporarily set the date on your smartphone (or tablet) to March 7, 2025 or earlier. If you don't know how to do that, see below.*
2) Use the Google Home app to re-setup your Chromecast by adding it as a new device (+). You still won't be able to cast, and the device will be grayed out in the Home app, but that's ok. Most importantly, it'll now be reconnected to your Wi-Fi network so that it can receive the firmware update fix.
3) Change your phone's date/time setting back to Auto now.
4) Sit back and wait for the firmware update from Google to be installed. This should restore your Chromecast to full functionality.
Note: Supposedly it's being done as a "phased rollout", so it could take a while for the firmware update to hit your Chromecast. Also, some have reported that power-cycling your Chromecast (unplug/re-plug the power cable) will sort of "provoke" the firmware update to be installed. Patience.
*How to change your phone's date/time settings:
For iPhone/iPad: go to Settings, General, Date & Time. Disable "Auto" and manually set the date to March 7, 2025 or earlier.
For most Android phones/tablets: Settings, General Management, Date and Time. Disable "Auto" and manually set the date to March 7, 2025 or earlier.
**Google REALLY should pin this information to the top of this page.**

Thanks to person who had recommended this earlier in the comment. I had factory reset my device when it stopped working. Here are the steps to follow:
a. Change mobile date time to one before 8th March 2025
b. Connect your Chromecast now .. it should work connection
c. Once connected the firmware released here will get automatically updated to device
d. Now you can go back to original date & time
Worked for me so others can try

Yo lo establecí tendrá solución??
03-16-2025 08:40 AM
If you made a factory reset it helps setting the time and date manually - fx March 1st. 2025. Then you can connect to the chromecast. Afterwards set the time automatically again. Worked for me.

Any update for those user that did a factory reset?
03-16-2025 08:47 AM
Just backdate the device you're casting from to 5th March or earlier and start setting up you're chromecast as normal again
