If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Change your device date for 8th March or previous, try to connect Chromecast again, do the installation normally. After that, it will get the update by itself. When finish, just put your phone back to the actual date.

Just go to your phone/iphone/tablet change the date to 1st March 2025 and then connect chromecast.it will update your Chromecast and will connect to the tv and update it.so go and enjoy..I already applied that method.it really working.

Hello all.
If you performed a factory reset and have an Android justo do these simple steps:
1 - Change manually your date to March 1st or other before March 8th.
2 - Open your Home App and add your device as usual.
3 - Finish the configuration following the steps.
4 - Wait for the Chromecast update.
5 - Restore your phone to the current date.
6- Use your device as well.

Hi, any updates on this? I've tried changing the date on my phone, and that managed to connect the chromecast to the web, but that didn't allow it to get the update, so it keeps getting the trust issues...

Worked for me too. I had reset - so I change date to 2 march on Iphone and reintalled via HOME App. It did an update and voila. worked. Change date on Iphone again to automatic.

My dear God! When is this going to be resolved!
I feel like this is intentional to get us to upgrade and buy a new Chromecast. Perhaps a class action lawsuit should be considered at this point.

We are two weeks waiting for a solution. I think that will be no solution. At least, Google may offer a coupon for buying the new device. I'm one of the "stupids" that factory restored the Chromecast. And now my son can't ser his cartoons on TV.. Stolen my phone for watching Toons.. 😁

Saben cuántos correos, de Google, de bancos de mercado pago, y así podría escribir todo el día, , de todas esas empresas he recibido correos falsos, y nunca, pero nunca, se ocuparon, a pesar que les estaban usando su logo su marca, incluso su correo y a nadie le importó, me dijeron que hiciera la denuncia, yo puedo influir más que, empresas como Google, , y si a Google no le preocupa, que puede hacer un simple ciudadano

Oi pessoal fiz a configuração com a data de 7 de março no meu smartphone e realmente voltou a funcionar. Assim que ele for instalado tem que voltar com a data atual para reproduzir o youtube no chromecast.
