Please resolve the issue asap as I have already reset the Chromecast device

Just change the device date(phone or tablet or iphone )to 1st or 3rd March 2025 then connect chromecast.it will take some seconds to download and update the chromecast.after that connect to the wifi and enjoy streaming.i already did that.its working.

For all the people who performed a factory reset during their initial troubleshooting, this procedure will allow you to reconnect your Chromecast to your Wi-Fi network, so that it can receive the firmware update fix that Google started rolling out on 3/13.

1) Temporarily set the date on your smartphone (or tablet) to March 7, 2025 or earlier. If you don't know how to do that, see below.*

2) Use the Google Home app to re-setup your Chromecast by adding it as a new device (+). You still won't be able to cast, and the device will be grayed out in the Home app, but that's ok. Most importantly, it'll now be reconnected to your Wi-Fi network so that it can receive the firmware update fix.

3) Change your phone's date/time setting back to Auto now.

4) Sit back and wait for the firmware update from Google to be installed. This should restore your Chromecast to full functionality.

Note: Supposedly it's being done as a "phased rollout", so it could take a while for the firmware update to hit your Chromecast. Also, some have reported that power-cycling your Chromecast (unplug/re-plug the power cable) will sort of "provoke" the firmware update to be installed. Patience.

*How to change your phone's date/time settings:

For iPhone/iPad: go to Settings, General, Date & Time. Disable "Auto" and manually set the date to March 7, 2025 or earlier.

For most Android phones/tablets: Settings, General Management, Date and Time. Disable "Auto" and manually set the date to March 7, 2025 or earlier.

**Google REALLY should pin this information to the top of this support page!!!**

Saludos,

RESET SOLUTION
I had reset my Chromecast audio as part of troubleshooting. Then of course was in trouble as nothing worked and the unit would not authenticate.  So i changed my phone date to March 1st/2025,  google home, add device, connected to the chromecast gave it wifi info.  At this point i had to change the date back because my phone Samsung S22+ wouldn't give me internet on the phone with the wrong date.  Then the chromecast seemed to sit and blink white, then reboot orange, then back on, then it finally showed up in the devices list.  (be patient). I've confirmed it now has the new updated firmware.
happy to report now working.

Yes this works! Thanks!

and shame on you Google for how this was (not) communicated.

Ouvi falar que pode criar problemas nos app de banco,  caso tenha em seu dispositivo.

  • The date switch is only a temporary measure to re-setup your chromecast. Once you're done, you can change it back to Auto.

I hope this helps ..I followed advice from previous community member

I had already factory reset my chrome before being warned not to .

So this is what I did ...

I changed date on my android phone to 7th March .

I searched for cast device through home again and it connected to it easily again.

Had a little weird back and forth where it said it hadn't connected yet it had on the TV .

The Chromecast started an update which also stopped and started but I let it do it's thing and it completed and restarted itself.

I did a hard reset/reboot on my phone (you know, where you hold the on/off button for ages and then reset)

I set the time and date back to automatic in settings on my phone.

This seems to have fixed the cast problems and am very happy to have my chrome cast back again ,I didn't know how much I would miss it .

Hope this helps
