If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Yes I had this problem and I'm so relieved it has been addressed. I thought it was my TV . My TV was not showing up as a device on Google home. This went on for several days.

I am stuck with that issue. In my screen appears the msg: get the app... And when I enter on the Google Home app in my android, the tv screen changes showing the 4 digits code. The mobile app ask if I would like to set up my Chromecast, I confirm and then, I receive the msg : Chromecast untrusted.

Quick Fix- Factory reset the Chromecast and change the date to one year back of your mobile and then share it a connection of wifi.

Aquela que se diz a empresa mais inovadora e vanguardista das big techs leva mais de uma semana pra sanar um erro em um gadget que possui milhares de usuários, pouco falando ou demonstrando estar realmente empenhada numa solução? Meus caros repito milhares de dispositivos inativos, (inacreditável tamanha falta de comprometimento), enfim decepcionante! (Isso se realmente "houve um erro") A impressão geral é que simplesmente retiraram o tal certificado e encerraram o suporte do produto e iam deixar todos a "ver navios", mais dada a repercussão recuaram e vieram com essa do erro ( sugestão liberem um voucher aos usuários que tenham dispositivos com o problema oferecendo a troca por uma versão adiante funcional nova, dando a opção de envio da "defeituosa" que foi restaurada e aos demais usuários também pelos transtornos sofridos nos últimos dias!!! Que tal essa solução? está "ok Google" para vocês?

Audio still not coming through, and i assume i have the latest Chromecast updates.
noticed that certain video sites work (video AND audio), and others don't (just video, but no audio). I think it has to do with the type of audio being sent.
On some streaming sites, you can select "Stereo" vs "5.1 audio", and then it seems to send the audio.
Please fix the remaining audio problems, i agree with others that all our streaming services won't be giving us back money for this outage. We as users of chromecast should not have to know all these details to get audio working, especially when it just worked out of the box before.

I did av factory reset and the solution to set my phones date to for example Mars 5th worked fine and after that try to connect it to my network and the wifi-connecting and updating worked fine. After all was updated I could change my phones date back to the real date.

I fixed mine issue, hope you can try fixing yourself. Just try to change date before 7th march 2025, may be you can make 7th march and setup as you used to.

tv TV may be set up, but we could not communicate with it from your iPhone. Make sure that you have enabled local network access in your iPhone's privacy settings. Then try again.
does anyone else gets this ? This being happening for about two weeks now

all is done thanks u all n ill thanks my self as well after 18 hours of i did it by following all steps ,last thing which hited was it was not connecting to wifi with the password ....it only worked when i disabled da wifi password .....my last try was to again go to set the date back to 2 March ،den cleared my home stroge app reinstalled it with wifi password on with all names chaged now its working on shed 🤣 a part from office welll i was hell of headache....every one was counting on me n i was following this platform which helped a lote .....one more imp thing which i missed to tell u was i changed my mobile phone n google account as welll .it will 1000% work .....Thanks google team thumbs up

Ma Chromecast ne fonctionne plus, comme beaucoup d'utilisateurs apparement, cependant j'ai voulu la réinitialiser et de ce qu'on m'a dit, ce n'était pas là chose a faire.
Pouvez vous me dire si elle va refonctionner de nouveau?

How the hell did you not expect customers to try factory reset their chromecast (as I did) because you waited how many days to actually make any comments or give us feedback advising us like within hours of it happening!!! This is an outrage because now I have no access to watch tv as I only use my gen2 chromecast and your new ones in the shop cost a HUGE $150!!! which I don’t have and won’t be able to afford for a long time!! This is ridiculous you have to fix this new problem now which YOU caused for people who did a factory reset!!!!! UNHAPPY!!!!
