Suerte

I am still waiting... I had done the factory reset as soon as I found the problem, before google said NOT TO DO IT. And now I end up with a totally useless chromecast.

Hey, then you're in the same situation as me. I also reset it to factory settings. So the Google update doesn't help because it's no longer connected to the internet. Connect the Chromecast as usual, and you should be prompted to install the Google Home app on your phone to start the setup. But that always failed, and the authentication failed. The solution is to change the date on your phone (in the settings). I set it to March 3, 2025. Then open the Google Home app again and the setup should work without any problems. After that, you can change your phone date again. I hope it works for you as it did for me. Best regards.

step 1: manually set your smart phone date to Mar 8 (exactly Mar 8, other days won't work). step 2: connect Chromcast, on your phone open Google Home app, add device to go through setup process. the final stage, Chromcast will update (do not try the casting demo, wont' work)
step 3: go back to smart phone set the date & time to automatic (correct current date) basically, you only need to change the date back (to Mar 😎 & forth (to current) for it to work.
