It still doesn't work. While setting it up, it doesn't update at all and after sometime it says network error. Its been two months and google has no clue how to resolve this. Its a shame on the company.

Sorry, still doesn't work after updating to 3.30.106 for iOS. After connecting to my wifi I get the message "couldn't communicate with the unit on your iPhone..."
03-20-2025 12:47 PM
See my post about 10 minutes after yours. Factory reset fixes the issue, at least for me.
03-20-2025 10:17 PM
Did you do a factory reset
03-20-2025 12:15 PM
FYI, I just resurrected a Chromecast Audio that was destined for recycling. It had never been factory reset. I have the latest 3.30.1.6 (Android) Home. Connected to Home during setup just fine, but wouldn't connect to my Nest WiFi mesh network at the end of setup. Tried multiple times, reboots, etc., didn't work. Found an old post with the solution - do a factory reset! Did a reset, re-ran setup and was connected to my wifi with no problems at the end of setup. Hope that helps with anyone experiencing the same issue.

the google home upgrade that was rolled out today/yesterday did the trick. i could reconnect my device phewx

Chromecast Audio - Have Home 3.30.1.6 on two phones, 2 of three Audio devices are Firmware version 1.56.467166, the 3rd goes through the process of connecting and will not connect to WIFI but shows on the wifi router interface it will not show on the home app. The other 2 will show in the home app but state "wifi not connected" when interrogating the devices. Plexamp that is used to stream to the devices no Audio devices appear in cast, Media monkey has every cast re connect that has been set up to connect to 10 instances plus 4 Non existent groups. Devices do not show up in Groups that they have been set up in
Very concerned that this has been passed to customer support who I have never had any luck in getting an answer from.

Hi there - I'm still unable to update this despite having the latest version of the app, and when I tried to contact support as directed the link to send a message didn't work! Please can you advise what I can do? Thanks
03-20-2025 02:55 PM
Only seeing updates about how it's fixed but yesterday customer service told me it was known that android users were still having problems and to keep waiting.
Is this correct? If so, why is not mentioned in the update today, seems important for people to know

Yeeeaaahhhh....still not working. Did the factory reset a week ago and, in spite of your assurances that it's all well and good now....it isn't. Unable to setup and see the lovely numbers on the screen. This blows. First it's my pixel's battery life sucks because of your update. Now this.

The update changed nothing for me.
I had reset the Chromecast before y'all notified the world about the bug.
Today I was finally able to update the Google Home app to the new version that's supposed to fix the issue. This did nothing for me and the issue still manifests.
Right after updating it seemed hopeful.
Sadly, though, nothing.
A second attempt...
I reset the Chromecast again, I rebooted my phone (Fairphone5 w Android14). I ensured that my wifi was still only 2.4Ghz and that my Bluetooth was on. Nothing helps...
I still get, after lots of attempts and loading and "connecting", the "could not connect" and the "could not communicate".
Square one.

I had a support call with Google. With all the troubleshooting I myself had done, I completely overlooked the possibility of fully uninstalling the Home app and reinstalling. This helped and I was once again able to connect my Chromecast Audio and cast music towards my speakers!

Took some hours and "bad language" but everything is working fine.
Even the Homeapp behaves much better with the 5 Nest mini's

My Chromescast is working now but casting is poor. Quality is very low and keeps dropping connection even though wi-fi is working fine

It's working now after the 3.30.16 update. Many Thanks!
