If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Lo stesso è sucesso a me e nel resettare il Chromencast per riconfigurarlo da capo mi da il segiìuente errore "impossibile autenticare il dispositivo Chromecast". Vedo il codice sulla tv ma non compare sul cellulare e quindi non riesco ad autenticarlo. Conclusione, all'improviso niente Chromecast !!!!

Aconteceu o mesmo comigo. Reiniciei o Chromecast e agora quando vou reconfigurar aparece a mensagem dizendo que não é possível autenticar. Já tentei de tudo e não consegui arrumar.

Several chromecast sticks (all of them gen 2) have the same Issue. As I tried with one of them to make a complete reset, this chromecast stick cannot be re-installed into my Google home App. Quite sure there is an major issue within authorisation for gen2 devices which are not related to specific accounts but all over the world... hopefully google will fix this soon. Thanks.

My iPad and iPhone apps suddenly stopped casting while streaming (watching) a video. Chromcast is working displaying its public photos, temp and clock but non of the apps are casting. YouTube given me outdated device firmware error when it tries to connect.
i switched off/on the iPad, chromcast and the router
i tried customer service but their agent didn’t seem to have the expertise

7 Chromecast Audio devices show offline in my Home app. I have a couple Nest Mini devices that seem to be working fine. I did not see any errors related to 'untrusted' Chromecast devices when I tried to reconnect my Ccast Audios, but it makes sense. I think I saw the Chromecast Audio device appear in the Home app briefly, before going offline again. Maybe there's a log file in the Home app?
I have an Android phone, but I noticed the Google Home iPad app is not loading any devices right now. I have a few smart bulbs along with Chromecast Audio, and Nest devices in the Home app. On my Android phone, everything but Ccast Audio loads, but on iPad nothing is loading. I restarted the iPad and have waited many minutes, but nothing will connect on the iPad. It worked fine on Friday. Maybe unrelated, but frustrating.
I know we're on borrowed time with Chromecast Audio, but I hope this isn't how we find out these devices a bricks. It's so disappointing that Google stopped making Chromecast Audio. Cheap, reliable, and solid audio streaming. It's the ideal solution for me, and I hate the thought transitioning to some other audio streaming platform.

Simplesmente do nada o meu dispositivo para de se conectar, o google home diz que ele esta off-line enquanto ele está ligado e funcionando na minha tv e não consigo colocar nenhum vídeo para tocar nele, fiz de tudo, até reiniciei e agora o google home diz que não consegue autentificar e me manda para a ajuda, porem a ajuda é completamente inútil.

Ich habe da gleiche Probleme min. 4 Stunden. Chromecast ist in Google Home nicht mehr verfügbar. Reset funktioniert chromecast wird auch gefunden im WLAN aber Einrichtung. scheitert dann. Der Code wird mir auf dem TV angezeigt aber nicht auf dem device. Verschiedene devices verwendet! Chromecast 2 Generation

Same, I have multiple Chromecasts that just stopped working today. They are still not working after trying a reboot and reinstall.. Just getting a message that they cannot authentication the Chromecast

Sme problem here. Have been trying to connect to Chromecast for past 3 hours and keep getting error message 'We can't authenticate...'. Have factory reset and rebooted a number of times and same message comes up.

Same exact issue here with Chromecast Audio. I've been using this wonderpuck daily for 10 years, what an absolute farce that a device that functions perfectly can just be "switched off" with no warning and turned into useless plastic.

I am glad to read I am not the only one. I wish I rwlead this before I did a factory reset. Now I have an error message that my Chromecast could not be verified. With a link to the Dutch support pages where no reference is made to this text.
