Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

J'avais réinitialisé mon Chromecast et en changeant la date de mon téléphone avant le 9 mars (astuce donnée sur la communauté ) mon chromecast remarche avec Google home. Dois faire cette mise a jour que vous proposez ou bien laissez comme tel. Merci de me répondre

This is just not ok.. have followed your directions for those who did hit reset. Upgraded to 3.30.1.6 for Android and started up. Get through to the point where it needs to connect wifi and then receives the message " cant establish connection to Chromecast. Make sure you are close to the device and that you establish connection when asked". I have now been without tv for past 10+ days waiting for the fix. If my chromecast 2gen is broken i can guarentee you i will not buy another google device from you.. will move to another supplier

So, apparently my 2nd gen Chromecast was updated. But now streaming playback takes minutes to load instead of seconds, and videos from Plex only stream for a few minutes before going into endless loading or choppy playback loading every couple of seconds. My Plex server streams to my Chromebook and PC without issues.
This is NOT a fix. The degraded performance has nothing to do with anything but incompetence or greed.

You rolled out the fix for Chromecast Audio and everything worked good for about 2 days. Now everything is broken worse than before.

One of mine worked for a few days after the fix, and then stopped working again, unable to connect.
The other one (which i factory reset before you made this forum announcement) has not worked since the initial day this started.
Support says google is apparently aware of the issue and to wait, but this forum post says it's been fixed. So which is it? fixed or not? Because it's not fixed for both of my chromecast gen 2s.

But what if we DID factory reset? Ours is trying to connect, but Google audio device is not an option to choose on the device list??? Please advise. We miss it!

it does work but you may have to update google home in stages up to the version 16. And then it works.

That worked for me, thanks! Updated App, added device, which connected OK this time and ran the firmware update on the chromecast. Result!

Yo desde mi mobile ingrese a la apliación de Playstore para buscar en home / update
Actualice y luego volvi a agregar el dispositivo de Chromecast, y de forma automatica conecto y actualizo mi dispositivo. Y ya esta funcionando muy bien!

Still doesn't work for me.
