Workarounds posted on Reddit and other sites, even for those who have done a factory reset. Worked for me, until these dopes see fit to issue a proper fix.
03-11-2025 05:51 AM
Do you have a link or instructions for the workaround you found? I was able to get mine connected back to the Internet but still unable to cast to it.
03-11-2025 05:52 AM
forget, it is a google server issue, not yours

Excellent instructions for workarounds here, even for those who have done a factory reset. Worked for me. I can now cast from my Android phone to my Gen2 again. Good enough, until Google issues a proper fix.

Thank you!
03-11-2025 05:52 AM
Hi. Any indication of time frame when this will be resolved?
03-11-2025 05:54 AM
Reset is reeds gebeurd. Kan u spoedig instructies sturen?
03-11-2025 05:54 AM
Why is this taking so long? At what time and date do you expect to have deployed a fix?
03-11-2025 05:57 AM
03-11-2025 05:58 AM
What if you already factoryreset your device?
03-11-2025 06:00 AM
Set you phones date back to before the 8th
03-11-2025 05:59 AM
When is this fix going to be ready? My device stopped working 2 days ago. The amount of information available on this issue is shocking - I had already factory reset my device by the time I found any guidance at all from Google about this issue. Had previously considered upgrading to your new streaming device but will likely be buying from a competitor now.

Manually set the date on your device back to before 9th March. You should be able to setup your chromecast back to normal, before you did the factory reset.
You still won't be able to cast anything... you'll have to wait for the Google update to find out what to do next.
Don't forget to set the date back to normal once you have reconnected.

Any news about this issue?
03-11-2025 06:01 AM
03-11-2025 06:06 AM
How long is your target to fix it? I hv already reset the device 🙄
03-11-2025 06:07 AM
How long will this take to correct? I have everything google, including 3 pixel cell phones. I am a loyal Google customer and have many many products in my house. I use my Chromecast audio in two different rooms almost daily. I need music in my life, when I am cooking dinner or outside washing cars or in my workshop tinkering. I have older high end speakers that tiny speakers will never replace. I need these to work.

Problem solved? Fixed?? It is 2 days or more so far. Inform us please!!
03-11-2025 06:08 AM
03-11-2025 06:13 AM
So the problem is not on my end ? Good to know . My grandchild really needs her tv in the morning. Hopefully it’s fixed soon.
03-11-2025 06:16 AM
Thank you I have the same issue and already did a factory reset before checking on your website.
03-11-2025 06:17 AM
What if you have already tried a factory reset because the issue had not been publicised?
03-11-2025 06:18 AM
Any News?

Excellent instructions for a workaround that will restore Gen2 casting from an Android device, even if you've already done a factory reset. Worked for me. Good enough, until Google issues a proper security certificate fix.
03-11-2025 10:37 AM
Good stuff! Just tried that and I'm able to cast again! Thank you!
03-12-2025 07:28 AM
Thanks much. I can able to stream now.
03-11-2025 06:17 AM
Looking forward for your instructions to set it back unfortunately I reset it to factory settings since ı changed wifi device

Hi, Australia here, this is a pretty poor effort from Google. No notification has gone out. An email to my google account of the issue would have been nice. I have been working on this issue since yesterday. Nothing came up in any searches of a current issue till I found this on 11/3/2025, 11.47pm for me. I have waisted so much time trying to fix this issue to find out now, it's not me, it's you Google. The Chromecast's are registered to google accounts more should have been done to get the message out. You have our details use them.

We have the same problem since Sunday. Nothing is working. We spent hours to try to fix reset etc., but still the same answer We couldn't authenticate your Chromecast.
What will GOOGLE do??????
03-11-2025 06:34 AM
too late. Reset done

03-11-2025 06:33 AM
I factory reset yesterday. This page didn’t show up on Google search results and this information apparently isn’t in support.google.com. Why isn’t this the first result when googling for this problem?!?
03-11-2025 06:37 AM
By when users can expect it back to normal??
