Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

To ask wat day to fix the problem 

Mi chromecast es de 3era generación y tampoco funciona, o sea no son solamente los de 2da generación?

this is not an ups mistake

it was planned samd time google puttet an new update for google tv 

 

they sold the new chromecast by 1200% 

 

meaning

google knows exactly how and what to do to force old user to buy their new updated products

they are the arrogant seller whom thinks everyone have no choice but to submit to their imperialistic methods 

 

this showed google is owned by some evil people 

What's the update because my Chromecast Audio still isn't working. Unfortunately I did a factory reset before reading this and now it's not working.

Will I get a notification when the issue is resolved? I performed a factory reset after trying all the other troubleshooting steps, not realising that the problem was not mine alone.

I've been sitting here for over 2 weeks with no use of my television because of this this is this is getting out of control and it needs to be dealt with immediately I want to know why in the world I could not use my product now I understand you guys are so slowly drifting away from that because you guys are investing in your Google nest wow there are still people over half of Google clientele that use the Chromecast okay And this is getting ridiculous It says get the home app I have downloaded and redone the home app all of my devices multiple times it's got it's getting a little ridiculous I should be able to just reset it just like that instead I have to sit here and wait for you guys to come up with a solution to this and it's taking forever please fix this

Can you rather give us a timeline than just telling a fix will be rolled out soon. We are done waiting. Honestly such a multi billion company like you is causing issues to people world wide. Shame on you guys.

Hi.. Please roll out the fix for users who have reset to factory settings. The first thing I did when chromecast failed to connect was to reset since that what I have been doing always. 

I did a factory reset (well, several 😂) but was able to reconnect my device by changing the date on my phone to 7 March and then setting it up. Hopefully this works.

Diceva di non farlo. Se lo hai fatto imposta la data sul tuo telefono a 1 marzo e riconfigura il dispositivo ed attendi l'aggiornamento che ora è in fase di roll out.

You can’t just rely on people checking a community page by chance. That is ridiculous. 

When can we expect to see our devices back online?

Even though you factory reset, you can still come back online by doing below... It really works !!!!!

Try to change the date on your phone manually to March 5, 2025 (prior to the date of the problem) and from the Home app add device, when it asks you for the wifi password try to enter it manually and to all the other questions answer "not for now", and thus I managed to get the Chromecast to connect to the Internet, the clock will now show the updated time therefore it has a connection, now you can stream videos if you can't until the corrective patch from Google arrives, but at least it is now online to receive it.

Yes, Did the same on 10th March, since I did the factory resect, I managed to complete the setup again by changing the Date at the Phone [during the setup]. However I was unable to cast the videos, it is still showing - outdated firmware.
Yes, my device is connected to the internet, and I also got an Update today morning i.e. on 14th March 9 AM IST. Unfortunately, the update did not go through and failed at 0% showing a network error.

Now, I am waiting to receive an update again so that it may be completed.

Se lo hai resettato alle impostazioni di fabbrica imposta la data al 1 marzo sul tuo telefono e riconfigurato.

Anything I can do for the roll out go on my chromecast ?

Since around 12:34 EST (I kid you not in that time!), every 10, 15 minutes or so, I keep getting a Connecting to internet Cromecast screen popping up on my TV that I've only been able to use a clock all this week (and ambient photos too). My Google Home is still down though (I reinstalled it Sunday night/Monday morning, and it won't allow me to accept Terms and Conditions - I  reported that separately).

Oddly enough though, when the Chromecast screen keeps popping up, it does show my device name. I hope this is a good sign!

Do I need to go outside and light candles and dance under the light of the full blood moon as well? I certainly will if it means I can use my TV for my shows and music again! My poor cataract eye can't take watching shows on my phone much longer! Please please pretty please 🤞🏻

The Google Chromecast Support (CCS) Would probably tell you to use the full blood moon for sacrificing an AppleTV for you Chromecast to work again.

It is not possible to leave my chromecast connected to the internet as I use cellphone data only so when I leave the house the wifi goes with me. Additionally I don't leave electrical devices running when I am not at home. So how can you prompt this fix manually at a time that is convenient?

I got the update for my Chromecast, but it failed at 0%  saying a Network Issue.

What I should do, please?

Both Chromecast was back again in the home app yesterday evening by it self and works as before. (Netherlands)

Sí ya se restableció la configuración de página entonces el equipo no se puede configurar,  pero es muy fácil  hacerlo. 

Hay que poner la fecha del móvil, de forma manual, con fecha anterior al 5 de marzo que es cuando ocurrió el error.

Una vez hecho esto configurar el dispositivo con su tv , sabrá que está configurado cuando salga la hora y fecha correcta en pantalla.

Devolver al móvil la hora original y a esperar la actualización con paciencia..., no queda otra...

Yo he seguido estos pasos y han funcionado,  espero que también os valgan a vosotros.

I did not factory reset, just waited. So I don't know...sorry

How will we know when the fix has been downloaded and we can try to connect?

Telling us not to perform a factory reset, when that was the second most logical remedy after turn off/turn on, is a lot like closing the gate after the horse has bolted.

If you did the factory reset, just bring back your phone date to before 8 March 2025, do the setup, and take it back to actual date. It worked for me 👍

Tengo un dispositivo que no reinice y otro que si use este método para volverlo a conectar pero el que reinicie no sé actualiza y el otro ya funciona será que el método realmente lo conecta la red
