Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Hey everyone, thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue. Here’s the latest:

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Ik heb hem wel weer kunnen koppelen via het aanpassen van de datum maar ik kan nog steeds niks casten. Verder denk ik gewoon afwachten ik kan niks updaten en zie ook niks of er iets is geupdate

No puedo conectar chromecast a mi tv,ni mi teléfono Android 

Pueden darme solución en español.

Dicen que iddntificaron el.problema y que en los.proximos dias daran una actualizacion para que se solucione. Que debe estar conectado. Y que no lo restablezcas de frabica. Y si lo hiciste tambien tenes que esperar. En conclusion bla bla bla.. mas de lo mismo. No tienen solucion inmediata en ningun idioma

all is done date changed to 1 march ,now app telling me to reset but i am not resetting it,now switching date n time to auto as direction given let c  what google is up toooo

Yo sólo vine a ver quiénes también  resetearon su Chromecast intentando se actualice... como lo recomendó Google cuando existiera alguna falla...

Para los que resetearon el Chromecast a los valores de fábrica como yo, he seguido las instrucciones de una respuesta de aquí que decía cambiar la fecha del teléfono a antes del 8 de marzo, y después desde Google home volver a instalar el Chromecast. Y me funcionó! ( Estuve varios días intentándolo y ni me dejaba instalarlo). Ahora al menos ya se conecta a la wifi, esperaré a la actualización.

I am a pensioner based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and use a 2nd Gen Chromecast to cast my entertainment to my TV screen. Regarding the "untrusted device" error with the Chromecast, I have seen in different forums that you are supplying fixes for the issue, but nothing has come through on my side. The Chromecast is still offline, still comes up with "untrusted device", and the cast firmware is still 1.56.275994, which it was before the error. It has been nearly a week, and I don't understand why my Chromecast has not received the fix when others in other countries have. It was only rebooted - without any success - and not reset to factory settings, and has been consistently connected to power and my wifi. Please advise when we can finally expect the fix, as I simply don't have the money to swap to another device.

Supposedly the firmware update fix is being done as a phased rollout, so it could take as long as several days for it to hit your Chromecast. Google only started pushing it out yesterday. Patience.

Do we have any ”proof” of people acctually getting the rollout? A bit suspicious that it is actually happening.. feel like it could be a way to get loudest to calm down

Yes, numerous reports from people who have received the update and are back up and running, although it still seems to be a small percentage of total users who have received it. Supposedly it's a phased rollout, so it could take as long as several days for it to hit all of our Chromecasts. Google even says as much in the pinned status update at the top of this page.

I did the 8th march thing and it worked but u can't cast but at least the device it's online hahaha , and now we are waiting for google to do the next thing
