So it seems awfully coincidental that my Chromecast 3rd generation (which how would you know what generation it is other than to contact support and send photos) crapped out at exactly the same time that the 2nd generations did.
I have watched and waited for the repair Information and updates as they rolled out. I followed all of the steps for resetting and reinstalling and my google home app will not recognize the device. I contact support this evening to be told that I have a 3rd generation device and that the issues surrounding the 2nd generation devices don’t affect my device. So my device just died and the same time that everyone else with 2nd generation devices had issues…. Seems highly unlikely.
I understand that my device is out of warranty, as it is 4 years old. But the timing of my device dying and the issues with the 2nd generation devices seems more than coincidental.
