I've turned on Developer Options on my Chromecast, and gone into the Apps section under Developer Options and set the background process limit to 3 processes. However, this setting doesn't stick - if I come back an hour later, after the Chromecast has gone into power save / suspend, and wake it up, the background process limit has gone back to the standard setting.

Other changes I make under Developer Options, such as setting animation scales to 0.5x, do persist once they have been changed, it's just the background process limit that doesn't.

Hi Nick Payne,

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with the settings being saved, I'm sure it's confusing why it's not saving, but I'm happy to look into this.

Can you provide me with the steps that you are taking when you are trying to change the settings and save these please?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Setting the background process limit to anything other than the default doesn't persist across a restart of the Chromecast, unlike other settings I can change in Developer Options. If I set an animation scale value, for example, then my setting for that is still there after restarting the Chromecast, but if I set the background process limit to a specific value and restart the Chromecast, I find that it has been reset to "standard".

Hey there NickJP,

I got that information sent over to the appropriate team back on 08/27/2021, and they are aware of the issue, however, I don't have an ETA of when that will be patched. In the meantime, did you have any other questions or concerns for me? I'd be happy to help you out!

Best regards,

Jeran

Nothing further - just have to wait for the issue to (hopefully) be fixed in a future FW update.

For sure, it's pretty annoying to have to change a setting every time the device restarts. For now, I'll go ahead and lock up this thread. If you encounter any more issues, feel free to start a new thread.

Have a good one,

Jeran
