I am using a brand new "Google TV Streamer," and I use a Yamaha A/V Receiver model RX-V679, which uses IR.
I have paired my Streamer remote with my Yamaha receiver, via IR, because it is *the only method that works*. Of the 5 available codes for Yamaha receivers, mine is ONLY compatible with the very first code.
The volume buttons on the Google TV Streamer only adjust the Yamaha receiver in single increments. When held, the volume buttons do not do anything, beyond a single half dB adjustment. This is pretty preposterous.
Two previous generations of Chromecasts (and probably more) featured remotes which by default repeated IR commands indefinitely so long as a volume button was held. Several generations of Roku, as well.
Is there an update that can be pushed to resolve this? I'm pretty underwhelmed with the new model thus far.
As mentioned by others, I attempted to work-around this issue by pairing a previous generation "Chromecast w/ Google TV 4K" etc etc etc etc remote with the new Streamer, and surprise, the Streamer essentially "broke" the volume-repeat function on the old remote, as well.
Please don't direct me to some canned "feedback" link, as I have 'fedback a number of times already.
Can Google just push a firmware update for the remotes already? The firmware version on my previous remote ("Chromecast Remote") is quite literally 26.7, but the firmware on the ("Google TV") Streamer remote is, not joking, 1.00.
