Unable to commect Google Account with Google TV

Hey guys, I'm suoer stuck here. I have tried several times to set up my Google TV Streaming device. It starts out fine, I start the set up on the Google Home App and  can add it to the home internet. I get as far as it trying to sign me into Google TV Streamer with Google Account and it can't seem to sign me in. I've Uninstalled the app and reinstalled. I've factory reset the device several times but everytime it gets to the same step of being unable to sign me in and I can't get any further. I can see the device in my devices list on the app. But i can't stream anything because it's not set up fully. I've tried also to do it on the TV but my Samsung TV is around 7 or 8 years old and I can only connect to the internet via my Fetch Box.  The only thing I can think of is that I also have a business account which is connected to Google Workspace. Could this be the problem? If you can advise any help of what to do I'd be so grateful.

Are you trying to set it up with a personal Google account? It won't work with a Google Workspace account. During setup, do you see an error message? What is displayed on screen or in the Google Home app?

I'm using a personal Gmail account. I can get as far as connecting to my Google account in the Google Home app and it just says couldn't sign in please try again.  And when I do try again it just directs me to complete setup on the TV. Which I can't because it will connect to my home internet then it will say it can't reach the internet on the next screen when it's trying to down load the updates. Any suggestions? I have removed my account from my phone and reinstalled it. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. 

 

I did have a gen 1 chromecast which I removed from the TV and have tried to remove from the app but I can still see it's showing there in the device list. It won't let me delete it. Could that be the problem?

What happens if you continue setup with the remote instead? Sometimes this allows the device to download an update which can resolve issues like this.

I have tried and tried trying to set up with the remote. I can get as far as connecting to the internet which happens with no problem.  Then it tells me it's going to download an update and before it can do that it tells me it can't reach the internet. Even though it is connected.

And to confirm, when you factory reset it, you followed these steps using the physical button on the device?
