Unable to disable Restricted Mode on Chromecast

I've read other threads on this, but none solve my problem.

For the last 2 days, when I cast to my chromecast from any of my devices (iphone, laptop), I get an error about restricted mode.  This can't be about my profile, because I can play the video on my laptop, but when I try to cast to chromecast, it says the content is restricted.  Note that I can cast unrestricted content.

I've gone to google home, and when I go to the chromecast device, the notifications and digital wellbeing icon does not appear, while it does for my other google nest devices.

I've tried deleting my kids from being able to connect to chromecast in case that was the problem, I rebooted both the router and chromecast, I checked youtube, etc.

Hi neitzspice,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. This restriction is related to the profile or account that triggers as you cast (rebroadcast) outside its intended platform or devices (app from smartphones, website from browsers, etc.). That also explains why, no matter what device you use, as long as you cast (rebroadcast) it, this happens. You mentioned that the option in the Google Home App to modify it is not available. Are you using a Chromecast 1st Gen, which looks like a flash drive? Let us know.

Thanks,

Kimy
