When I cast YouTube from Chrome on my laptop, I am not signed in, although it once worked fine. I cannot log in as it simply says "Can't sign in You can still watch YouTube as a guest on this TV while you share videos, add comments and more from your mobile device.". It once worked, when it was new and I was automatically signed in, on casting.

Hey there tarotray,
Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! Google made a change a couple of months ago with the YouTube app, and I'm sorry to say, but you're no longer able to log in to the YouTube app on older Chromecast devices. You are still able to cast YouTube to said devices, just no longer sign in.
Let me know if you had any other questions, I'd be happy to help.
Best regards,
Jeran

It's not an "older chromecast device". It's pretty new. Anyway, isn't it unethical to remove functionality from a device that I, the customer, paid for. I haven't been able to find out why. You don't tell me. Please, restore the functionality that I paid for.

Hey there tarotray,
When I mentioned that you had an older Chromecast device, I meant the model was older compared to the newer Chromecast with Google TV 4K and HD, not that your particular device was "old". I know it's disappointing that signing in to your YouTube account while casting is no longer supported. If this is something you'd like to see again, I would highly encourage you to submit feedback via the Google Home app to let Google know.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Best regards,
Jeran

You say "I would highly encourage you to submit feedback via the Google Home app to let Google know.", as if you (Google Nest) are nothing to do with Google. So, we'll done for passing the buck, like that. Are you, also, a politician? In the end, Google sold me a product with a functionality that they unilaterally removed, without warning, refund or compensation. I'm not satisfied with your response and not even sure the action was legally allowed. There are consumer rights.
