So I have no idea if my selections at the top are correct. But I bought a Chromecast device, and from the Chromecast device...I installed Pluto TV. So no casting from a phone or web browser. And while I am watching Pluto TV it keeps going into Ambient Mode. I don't know how to stop this. I changed all the settings to off that I could find about shutting down after 5 hrs but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I rebooted the Chromecast, and I have forced stopped the app. Still seems to happen. Is this my internet connection dropping? The TV is right next to the wi-fi router. This is very annoying.

Hi abarrowc,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. I assume that this is a Chromecast with Google TV since you installed the Pluto TV app and mentioned that you weren’t casting it. Is this only happening to the Pluto TV app? Since you’ve already tried to reboot your Chromecast and force-stop the app, give the steps below a try and let me know how it goes:
We look forward to your response.
Thanks,
Kimy

My wife and I are having this exact same issue on 2 separate Google TV's of both models.

I have done a system update. And update all of my apps. My wife's Chromecast is new however.

Hi folks,
Thanks for joining the thread, @loco1529. What is your current Android TV OS build?
There's an ongoing update that will be rolled out in the coming days. It includes patch fixes for most of the recognized bugs. It should be the versions STTE.230615.004 and STTE.230615.004.1 where this patch fix kicks in. Once you have the update available, make sure to install it. If it's not available yet, give it a few more days. Keep us posted.

Kimy

It's still happening. It stops for days at a time. Then it happens over and over all day. I go from the home screen. To live TV. To a TV show which is on Pluto and while watching it goes into ambient mode at random. It also is still happening on my wife's Chromecast.

Hello Kimy, I have been needing to pull the power plug in order to reboot my Chromecast the last few days in the morning. When I turn it on I get no signal. I check in the Google home app and it shows that my Chromecast is on. I'm able to tien it off and back on from the Google home app however it still doesn't provide a picture. My TV basically still waits for the source to be turned on. Is there a way to at least reboot the Chromecast from the remote or Google home app? I have not found a way other than unplugging it.

Hey there loco1529,
Thanks for sharing. This situation seems to be different now from the previous concern. Previously, both of your Chromecast devices tend to go to Ambient mode in the middle of watching something; now it seems to go to black screen (no signal) despite the Chromecast device being detected as online. It may not be the Chromecast device that needs to be rebooted in this situation. Switching the HDMI port or rebooting the TV is most likely a better approach. Is this happening on both Chromecast devices and their corresponding TVs? And how about the original concern, which is going into Ambient mode? Is it still happening? Let us know.
We look forward to your response.
Thanks,
Kimy

As I had stated before it stops for days and at this time it hasn't happened for a bit therefore it is possible it may have stopped however I don't want to call it just yet. I have tried switching the HDMI port but it doesn't do anything different. The TV at this time is just turning on for the day. This is not happening on the other Chromecast at this time. It is the newer model if that might make any difference.

Hi loco1529,
Thanks for the details. Since this is only happening on one of your Chromecast devices, let’s isolate it by switching TVs. Observe if this Chromecast device shows the same behavior on the other TV and if the other Chromecast device will still be working well on this TV. Keep us posted.
