VLC 3.5.7 for Android plays my home movies at the wrong orientation.

I have some home movies on an external hard drive that I have placed in series with my Google TV Streamer.    I have downloaded VLC 3.5.7 for Android and the films are discoverable.  However, for some of these films, the displayed orientation is wrong (90 degrees or 180 degrees).  Neither the Google TV streamer nor the VLC app has any option to change the orientation.    Is there any work around to change the display orientation?

Hi @Kennuth,

Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. I understand you're experiencing an issue with the orientation of your home movies when playing them through VLC on your Google TV Streamer from an external hard drive. Let's see what options we have within the Google TV environment.

This functionality is not a standard feature within the Google TV interface for media playback. While VLC is a third-party application, its features on the Google TV platform are specific to that environment and do not include the real-time rotation options found in desktop versions.

Therefore, there isn't a direct setting or workaround within the Google TV Streamer or the VLC app on this device to change the display orientation of your home movies during playback.

The most reliable solution to ensure correct orientation on your Google TV would be to rotate the video files themselves using video editing software on a computer and then transfer the corrected files to your external hard drive. This ensures the orientation is correct within the video file itself, which the Google TV Streamer will then display as encoded.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Kevin
