When updating to Android 14, the device storage does not work when adding an external USB.

Updated to Android 14, detects the USB as external storage, when formatting to make it system storage it gives an error and ejects it. I've restored to factory settings twice, enabled developer options, tried three different USB drives formatted to FAT32 and the same thing happens with all of them. Before the update, it worked without a problem.

The same thing happens to me, when I format the Chromecast with Google TV it ejects the external memories and it cannot be assigned as internal memory either, before the update it could be perfectly fine. Please fix this.

Same here. Attempted with multiple different drives including a Samsung Fit+ USB thumb drive, a WD external SSD, a SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD, and a cheap 16GB Lacie key drive, all through a powered hub that worked fine with all these drives before the AndroidTV 14 update...and all resulting in the same error stating that drive(or "storage"...I forget the exact wording) has been safely ejected. I factory reset using the menu option on the Chromecast and also did this a 2nd time using the physical button on the Chromecast itself but issue persists. I even tried pre-formatting the drives on a Windows PC, an Android phone, and my Nvidia Shield, and was able to get the Chromecast to recognize that an external storage drive had been plugged into the hub I use, but when it tells you to format the drive to use it as internal storage on the Chromecast, the format fails and goes back to the "safely ejected" message. Seems there's no way to connect external storage now.

I've also run into random items in the Settings menu being completely blank after you click on them. I haven't noticed any color profile issues like others have mentioned, but I also only use my Chromecast on an older TV in my bedroom, so it'd likely be hard to notice on that lower end TV, even if there were color profile issues after the update. Really hope Google is working on a resolution to this, since they rushed to push a fix for the expired certificate issue impacting all older(and no longer officially supported) 2nd Gen Chromecast dongles last week. That fix was pushed within about a week. Being that the CCWGTV was more expensive and a newer model of the device, I'd hope a fix is imminent, but I'm not holding my breathe for a quick resolution, since this was the result of the Android TV 14 update, an entire new OS version, vs a simple expired certificate that was affecting the 2nd Gen Chromecast dongles last week. I asked Gemini Advanced if Google has acknowledged these issues with the Android TV 14 update and it confirmed they have and are working on a fix, however, I've yet to see any mention of this on the official Google Support sites, Reddit, or any other online AV forums. What a mess. I lost half my apps and data on those drives attempting to fix them myself. Should have gone online first to read about the issues before attempting to format the drives and fix myself.

Funny how my Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019(which is essentially the same Shield Pro released in 2015 other than a few minor hardware differences) still runs like a dream on Android 11 and can run circles around the newer Chromecast with Google TV. Shield also just received another major update about a month ago and is now on the Jan 2025 security patch. At least Nvidia is committed to extended software support and updates, even if they are slow to release them, but then again, Nvidia still sells the Shield TV Pro.

I'm shocked that Google has not addressed this issue. This is a Google supported feature. I've had no TV for like a week already all my apps and files are on external and because they are default to install on external I can't install anything internally

I have files on the drive as well.

Same issue. Still waiting for a fix!

I wish I would put out some type of update on the issue and what the timeline is.
