Hi @PaulHansen

No sound on your Chromecast except for Netflix can be frustrating. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Basic Audio Settings:

  • Make sure your TV, Chromecast, and any external speakers (soundbar, receiver) are not muted. Double-check the volume controls on both the TV remote and Chromecast remote.
  • Verify the correct input source on your TV. Ensure it's set to the HDMI port where the Chromecast is connected.

2. Adjust Chromecast Audio Settings:

  • You can access the Chromecast settings menu (through your TV or Google Home app):
    • Look for an "Audio output" or "Display & sound" section.
    • Choose the audio format supported by your TV (PCM is usually a safe option).
    • Disable any surround sound settings if your TV doesn't support them.

3. Restart Devices:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Unplug the Chromecast from the power source for a minute and then plug it back in. Restart your TV as well.

4. App-Specific Issue:

  • Since Netflix seems to work fine, the problem might be isolated to other apps. Try playing content from the same app on a different device (phone, tablet) and see if you encounter audio issues there. This can help identify if the issue lies with the app itself.

5. Update Chromecast and Apps:

  • Ensure your Chromecast has the latest firmware update (check through the Google Home app or TV settings).
  • Update the apps you're experiencing sound problems with to their latest versions.

Please try those steps, and let us know in this post.

Best regards,

Josh
