Your Chromecast was set up successfully but can't be found

This is the message I get when attempting to finish the setup of my Chromecast. After which, it cannot be found by any other devices. It's clearly connected to my Wi-Fi, but for some reason cannot be found. AP Isolation, which it warned about, does not seem to be a thing my router does.

I still have that problem. Anyone has found a fix?

Hey there RebukePete,

I am sorry about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that set-up issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out! I've had my fair share of set-up issues in the past, so I understand your frustrations. Let me just ask you some questions about your setup:

  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast?
  • What version of the Google Home app are you using?
  • Have you attempted a factory reset on the Chromecast?
  • What color is the LED light on the Chromecast device?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran

i did (with some issues) update the firmware and it all works fine.

1) the app said the firmware was up to date and it was not (on all three devices, base and 2 sats)

2) updating the sat firmware thru the app was ok, kinda - the response was sooooo ssslllooowww that i thought it was not working, once i (in frustration) waited more, it worked - whew ...

3) updating the base via the app didnt even work - so i had to download the sw to my laptop and hardline to the base, and patiently await the most slow responses, and eventually i did succeed.

Soooo - the app had a couple of problems, for me - but i did prevail, on my last breath 🙂

thanks

Hello, my issue resolved itself. I left the device plugged in for about a week, didn't actually do anything and then it randomly appeared when I touched the casting button in my YouTube app.

I am assuming it was actually updating the firmware in the background (or some other update hidden in the background) and just needed more time than I had given it.

I am sorry my solution isn't very helpful, but I think it points to firmware?

No problem at all, thank you for letting us know! Since we have a couple of fixes in this thread, I'll go ahead and lock it for now. If you run into any more issues in the future, feel free to make a new thread.

Have a good one!

Best regards,

Jeran
