google chrome casting does not work in mac OS 15

Hi, I cannot cast from Google Chrome to my Chromecast. I am getting an error saying that I have to give access in system settings. However, Google Chrome is already included in apps that have access in system settings.

This issue started after updating mac os to os 15. However, mac community suggests reaching out here since its a google product. Is there a fix for this cast permissions issue.

Thanks for your help.

I am also having the same issue. However, that only happens when trying to cast my screen. If I try to cast a tab, it will cast it but as a still image. If I navigate through the tab, it will not update on the casted destination screen at all.

Hi Folks ,

Thank you for reaching out to our Nest Community. I understand the frustration of encountering casting problems from your Google Chrome browser to your Chromecast.

Let's troubleshoot this together. Here are some steps you can try:

1. Check Chromecast and Network:

  • Restart: Restart both your Mac and the Chromecast device.

  • Network Connection: Ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that the Wi-Fi signal is strong.

  • Factory Reset (if necessary): If the issue persists, try factory resetting your Chromecast device. This often resolves connectivity problems. Instructions are usually found in the Chromecast app or in the Chromecast device documentation.

    • Note: Factory resetting will remove all your current settings and cast sources.

  • Re-add Chromecast: After resetting, re-add your Chromecast device to your Wi-Fi network and the Google Home app.

2. Update Software:

  • macOS: Make sure your macOS is updated to the latest version.

  • Chrome: Update your Google Chrome browser to the latest version.

3. Check System Settings (macOS):

  • Screen Recording: Even though you've checked, double-verify that Google Chrome has permission to access "Screen Recording" in your macOS System Settings. This permission is often required for casting.

    • Go to System Settings > Security & Privacy > Screen Recording and ensure that Google Chrome is checked.

4. Troubleshoot Chrome:

  • Clear Browsing Data: Clear your browsing data in Chrome, including cookies and cache.

  • Disable Extensions: Temporarily disable any Chrome extensions that might be interfering with casting.

Once you've tried these steps, please let me know if the issue is resolved.

Regards,

Kevin
