iPlayer black flashes on chromecast

I've been getting random flashes of black when watching iPlayer on my CCWGTV. It's very distracting. It only appears to affect iPlayer.

I have tried reinstalling iPlayer but the issue has remained. I've seen posts in other places mentioning this as possibly linked to a recent android upgrade. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to stop it? Thanks.

I have been having this issue for nearly a year now! Have tried every troubleshooting step going, none resolving the issue. There was another thread for this issue but it was closed for some reason.

Reassuring to hear it's not just me still having this issue! I have tried changing the video quality to SD and this appears to stop it, but having to watch everything in SD isn't really an acceptable solution.

If all other apps are working fine and the issue is isolated to the BBC iPlayer app alone, then your Chromecast with Google TV is working as intended.
