The update didn't fix it for me initially, but clearing data for the Android TV Infrared Service afterwards did the trick 

Same here, was running slowly so I did the old factory reset twice trick. When setting back up I couldn't use the QR/code and had to setup manually, now get "Something went wrong" when trying to add my TV for volume control.
