Yes, everything is working for me in sub-freezing temperatures (10 F) after replacing the battery a couple of months ago.

No disagreement at all on that point. Totally agreed that it should not have to be like this and we all deserve better as customers.For me, spending ~$20 and 30 minutes of my time was a much better option than paying $150+ for a replacement doorbell ...

Yes, the replacement battery fixed the issue per my post above with instructions and part number.
