Ambient Mode Nvidia Sheild adds dark gradient to my photos

The Ambient Mode on Nvidia Sheild adds a dark gradient to the bottom of all my photos. This doesn't happen when on Google's other sources for images. Just on my pictures from google photos. Why? Better yet, why can't I turn it off? It makes the photos too dark!

Could you please verify what Google Nest devices are you using? Also, would you be able to provide us a photo of the exact display you're getting if by any chance you're using a Google Nest display?
