Can't Link my Nest to Home App

Rufio

I set up my Nest account via my Gmail account. When I try add add the already set up New to Google Home it is asking me to login, however, as i login via Google to my Nest I do not have any login details. It says I should try logging in via Google but there is no option for this. Seems a bit ridiculous.

Thanks

I have seen a whole series of recent posts in this forum from people who have added their Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app and are not seeing the thermostat appear in the Google Home app as it should. There must be some glitch somewhere on Google Nest's servers when a thermostat is added.

Some customers have had success with the following. Set up a temporary Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Nest app. Open the Google Home app, find that same empty temporary Google Nest "home/structure" and delete it from the Google Home app. For these customers, doing this somehow prompted the 2 apps to sync, and their thermostat then appears in their original Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app.

Instead of this workaround, I think Google Nest Support has had customers with this problem perform some steps in the Google Home app, but these steps don't seem to be documented.  You could try contacting Support and ask them for help:  https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I'm not clear what's happening in your situation. If you have been logging into the Google Nest app with your Google (gmail) account, then when you open the Google Nest App and are not already logged in you select the "Sign in with Google" option and enter your Google account and password.

If you want to use the Google Home app, you use the same Google account and password credentials, and you see the same Google Nest "home(s)" you have in the Google Nest app.

Thanks @MplsCustomer and @Juni, the issue is that my Google credentials are not working when the Nest login pops up when adding my Nest to my Google Home. They are the correct details. It is very strange and frustrating.

@Rufio

When you say you are "adding my Nest to my Google Home", what device are you trying to add in the Google Home app? I do not think there is any "Nest login" that should pop up in the Google Home app when adding a Google Nest device. If you are by any chance using the "Works with Google" option in the Google Home app, that is NOT used for Google Nest devices; it's used for non-Google devices that work with Google. Are you by any chance trying to add to the Google Home app a Google Nest device that works only in the Google Nest app?

For example, if you've added a Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app, it should AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app if you are accessing both apps with the same Google account and are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure".

Thanks @MplsCustomer

Ok, starting from the beginning: The technician came round to fit the Nest and set up the Nest app on my phone. I later downloaded Google Home and used my same Google credentials. Whilst my house nickname showed up, the Nest was not showing. After reading some articles online, it said the best way to add a device that was already set up, was via 'Works with Google', this is what i have been attempting by selecting Nest from the search options.

I would have expected the setup to work as you describe in your 2nd paragraph, but for some reason it isn't and I don't know how to proceed.
