I can't rename two Google Home devices: a Nest Hub and Chromecast
I've tried removing the devices from my Home and even factory reset, but no luck.
I've even tried renaming the devices on two different Pixel phones (3 and 5a).
The rename saves and on Google Home when I look at the name, it looks good.
But when I go to rename the device again, it resorts back to the old name.

Garrett, I got it to work! The solution (no joke) was to buy an iPhone and use the Google Home app on that. Sad that I couldn't do the same thing on Google's own Pixel phones. You can close this case.

I am having a similar issue. Went through about an hour's worth of troubleshooting via the official Live Chat and in the end the support rep said that this is a bug and had me send feedback through the Google Home app. Super frustrating.

Yes the issue still exists. Can't rename a couple Nest Hub devices.

Hey there,
Thanks for letting me know what you have tried.
Would you mind uninstalling the latest update on the Google Home app and trying that? You can also try to clear the cache from the app as well.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Garrett DS

My Pixel 3 phone wouldn't let me install the latest update as I could for other apps.
So I uninstalled the app, reinstalled, but still no luck.
Clearing the cache didn't fix things, either. 😞

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response on this. Have you tried uninstalling the update on the app, and going back to the old update?
Please let me know if that helps.
