I cannot turn the volume all the way down while viewing the new Nest camera live. It is very annoying as the volume keeps at 10% all the time. I tried everything but it is not possible. This creates an echo most of the time when the environment is quiet and it is really not helping when your baby is crying out loud in the next room.
We didn’t have that problem at the good, old Nest app.

I've got the same problem, I've posted twice about this.
Seems like it should be an easy fix.

This very much looks like a bug.
I also have experience several streaming issues which I haven't been experiencing with the good old Nest app.
I cannot use the new cameras on the Nest app. Why does everything has to be that complicated?

The reason this is happening is because when viewing the cameras the app is for some reason using in call volume and not normal speaker volume controls. When on a phone call you can not turn the call volume all the way down to 0, which is the same issue here. The app should be using regular volume controls and not the in call one. You'll notice this when raising or lowering the volume because of the icon in the volume toggle. It is definitely a bug and I'm surprised more people haven't complained about this because it is very aggravating. Please fix this!!
