Devices not showing which one is on

Hi everyone 

question when using the home app on IOS if i touch the light in a room it shows that light is now on, how come if I ask google to turn the light on, then I look in the google home app it doesn’t show that light is on? 
so in other words if I asked to turn a device on it does that but if I look at the app it shows that it is still off how can you get the app

to show the device is on even if you use your voice instead of the app

You will need to refresh the screen. The app doesn't know that it needs to poll to see that the light state has changed. 

Thankyou , even refreshing doesn’t show the device is on

@Gainey, thanks for posting. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should and thanks for trying the step provided by kiltguy2112. A few things: what is the make of the light? Was this working before? If so, Were there any recent changes made before the issue started? Try to reboot your phone to refresh it. If that did not work you can uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app then observe if this will make a difference.

Hi Juni,

thank you for the reply.  The light works if I ask google or use the google home app and turn it on or off. I have reinstalled google home but same thing, if I ask google to turn it on it does, but the app doesn’t show it on even with a refresh. 
if I turn it on with the app, then I see on the app it’s on

Thanks for trying that. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. To further isolate it, could you try to use another phone and observe if the issue remains?

Hi Juni, I signed up for the preview app for google him I received a message to say I have been accepted but the app hasn’t changed or updated, I am thinking maybe those will help with the refreshing when light etc are on

Hi Gainey,
 

Thanks for the details you provided. How did you receive the message via email or a notification on your phone? If you don’t see changes try to force close and reopen your Google Home app. If that did not work try to reboot your phone too to refresh the device.
