My Assistant was working with Google until Aug 1, then it could no longer connect. I unlinked and tried to relink it and now I get this response: "Could not reach DISH, please try again."  So I'm watching this thread. Thanks.

Mine did the same. Haven't heard a decent fix yet not from Google or Dish. Anyone please help.

Hi everyone.

I’m sorry to hear the trouble you’re experiencing when linking DIsh to Google Home. Let’s further look into it.

Sixpack225, is this the first time you will link Dish to Google Home? Is Chrome your phone’s default browser? If not, set it as default and then try to link Dish again. Else, uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app and Google Assistant app.

AnnieD, what phone are you using for the set up? Try to uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app, then try to link your Dish account again.

How to link Dish:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Devices > Add + >  Works with Google.
  3. Tap the search field > select Dish.
  4. Select the result > follow the on-screen instructions.
    • After that, follow the steps from their Dish set-top box:
      1. On the remote control, press Settings.
      2. Find Google Assistant.
      3. Select Get Code.
    • Go back to your mobile device.
  5. Enter the code that's presented on the screen > select Activate.
  6. The receiver/s are shown on the next page. Add the receivers to their respective rooms in the app. The room assignment helps you to specify where you want the commands to be sent.

Note: If you find more than one Dish set-top box on your account, use the receiver ID to determine what receiver goes in what room.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex

Isn't there another way to fix this rather than uninstall. I'll have to setup the many devices again. Or am I missing something

Hi there,

Are you referring to uninstalling the Google Home app? It shouldn’t affect your Google Home setup. You just need to make sure that you log in the same email address you use to set up your devices.

Sixpack225, AnnieD, have you had the chance to try the suggestions above? If yes, how was it?

Kind regards,
Alex

Mine is doing the same thing and I have try’d every thing you suggested and it’s not working is there a fix?

Did not work

It's mind f**king to me this is still broken and nobody is stepping up to take ownership of this issue.

I'm pissed at BOTH parties involved.  It used to work, now it doesn't.  It's not like we're starting from scratch...just fix the **bleep** issue!

I sooooooooo agree 😞

Hi folks,

Thanks for the additional information you all shared. Have you had the chance to contact the third-party app support team? The partner itself manages the URL portal used to link partners in the Google Home app. Issues encountered when linking a partner (home control) should be directed to that home automation partner for support. Partners are expected to support the integration of their products with Google Nest and Home devices.

Best,

Juni

They said the issue was not with them

So you're saying Google knows EXACTLY what's broken, but they have no pathway to contact Dish to make them aware?

AnnieD

Thanks for the reply. That did not work.  Still says it "could not reach dish"

Any updates on this?  It is not possible to get past step 3 in your list because "Dish is not available" response.

It’s been 2 months, has Dish found a solution to this issue?

Does not work I followed all the steps when it gets to selecting dish it simply says "could not reach dish.  Please try again" has done this after restarting both my phone and dish receiver

I am having the same issue and have tried ALL solutions listed with no results. Its rather annoying and needs to be fixed, especially if you are aware of the issue.

I get to step 3 and that's when I get the message everyone else gets.  I select Dish and bingo try later. I actually talked to Dish (had to start somewhere). They did a little bit of troubleshooting then final said oh that's a Google issue. She gave me two phone numbers to call.  One just rang then got disconnected. The other was just a recording stating they don't monitor that number and to go to this website and evidently they don't monitor this either.  I guess they have so many other issues to deal with this is the least of their problems. Maybe we should start a new thread. I guess we could all switch to DirectTV but, from what I've heard, they have more issues and this may not work either.

I also have not been able to link my Hopper3 to Google Assistant.

i am using an IPhone 12 Pro Max IOS 17.1.1

Google Home version 4.5

1) Open Google Home

2) Select Settings

3) Select Add

4) Select Device

5) Select Works with Google

6) Select Dish from the List of Devices

Message is Something went wrong.  Try Again.

This problem has occurred since August 1, 2023

Dish technical support claims the problem is with Google.  How can we get this fixed?

Dish doesn't even come up as an option when I search for it.

Dish is not in the list on Google home app!

If you unlink dish it is not a choice to add back in

Hi Alex, I have followed your directions exactly as you post it on the problem is. This does not show up under the devices that I can add. Please help if you can.

I believe that help is going to have to come from Google and Dish working out the integration issue, which has been broken since last summer.  While @Alex_S's advice may have seemed like a reasonable solution at the time it was written (even though it didn't actually solve the problem), it's not possible to follow those directions now because Dish is no longer listed as a "Works with Google" option (at least at the time of this writing).  That's what users have reported here and elsewhere.

"Tap the search field > select Dish"  Dish is not showing as on option.  What now?

Tap the search field > select Dish...  Not an option?

Did exactly that.  Dish network is not showing up in the search.

I am having the same issue with linking Dish to Google Home or Google Assistant. Everything worked up until August 1st. Error message I get is"Something went wrong. Try again. Steps I have taken but have not worked. Deleted Google Home and Google Assistant and re installed. Deleted Dish from Google Home & Assistant. Cleared cache, factory reset Google Nest. Checked network. Checked Updates for Dish and Google. Updated iPhone 13 to latest. All to no avail. I'm beyond frustrated. Hope Google can resolve sooner than later or I may be looking for another solution.
