Hi there,
I recently bought a Smart Life smart plug. The plug works fine with the Smart Life App, but when I click the "Link with Google Assistant" within the Smart Life app, the Google Home app loads up briefly, and then my phone switches automatically back to the Smart Life app. The accounts do not link.
If I go into the Google Home app, and then try to select Smart Life, the Smart Life app loads up but nothing happens afterwards.
How do I link these accounts so that I can opeate the smart plug via voice on my Google Nest Mini?
Thanks

I had this happen too and was happy to see I wasn't alone. The issue is the Smart Life app has registered it as the preferred app to open Smart Life URLs. When google home tries to open a login page for Smart Life it opens the app instead. Here is how I fixed.
1. Install Smart Life app and get your device named and working properly
2. Remove the Smart Life app
3. Go to the Google Home app and manually add the device:
- click the + in the top corner
- click set up device
- Choose "works with Google"
- Search for "Smart Life" and choose the one with the correct icon (blue house)
- It should then open a window in web browser to log into you Smart Life account
- continue with the prompts and setup in Google
Once you have done the above and verified it works in Google you should be able to reinstall the Smart Life app. When you log into the app again it should retain your devices from before.
Hope this helps

Exact same problem here. From either app, it just hops over to the other and immediately returns. There is no screen to log in to the Smart Life account as shown in various instructions, and on the Google side, nothing happens.

I have the same issue but I can't make sense of your solution.
If Smart Life is already installed, why do step 1? Are you saying uninstall then reinstall Smart Life? I have 25 devices connected. I would seriously hate to have to reconnect them all.
On step 2, are you saying to remove Smart Life from Google Home or from my phone?

This does work. All your Smart Life settings are saved with your account, so once you reinstall it and log in, they are back again.
You just need to remove the Smart Life app long enough to use Google Home to add Smart Life, which it will do by linking to the website instead of opening the app. Once that’s done, you can reinstall the Smart Life app. All your settings will be there once you log into your account.

It does indeed...thanks for the clarity

I know it is counter intuitive. What is happening is google is trying to open a login page to authenticate your smart life account but that is being intercepted by the smart life app which isn’t handing the passes url correctly to complete the login. Removing the app temporarily allows google to open a browser to authenticate and then you are fine. After that you can reload the app.
Alternatively if you have another device that you can launch the google home app on that doesn’t have smart life installed you can use that. Just manually link the account on that device and it will carry over. Perfect if you have a backup phone or a tablet. You could prob even use a friend’s phone to log into google home just log out after you are done.
One final note I suspect this is only needed to link your accounts the one time. Adding another smart life device after doing this likely (have not tested) will not require this workaround.
