Google family/home services don't work with workspaces/Google apps

I've just found this topic as a result of an issue I'm having...

I'm a paying subscriber to a host of Google services and constantly prohibited from using services that are only available to free accounts!

First it's Google Family Link, I have to set up a free Gmail account to be able to manage my children's access to potentially harmful content on the Internet.

Now, apparently, I can't share access to our Google Home configuration with my wife unless we, yet again, use a free gmail account to manage this.

Tell me, why am I bothering to pay for a family domain name for email when all the family features aren't available.

Somewhat related, it also happens that I can't use my Google Pay setup to pay for all Google services - specifically, google domains.

It seems as though google services are becoming more and more siloed/fractured.

Hey there,

Sorry about the delay and thank you for sharing your feedback as I understand your frustration. Some Google Home app features are not available for Google Workspace accounts.

 

You can find how to enable access for Workspace users in the Admin console here. Or by following these steps:

 

  1. To turn on or off the service for select groups of users, put their accounts in an organizational unit.

  2. Log into your administrator account. This will open the Google Admin console.

  3. From the Admin console dashboard, go to Apps  Additional Google services.

  4. Click Web & app activity to open its settings page.

  5. At the top right of the gray box, click Edit Service.


For more information on Admin console features, please visit the Workspace Admin Community. You can also send insight on the features you’d like to see implemented by clicking on the “Send Feedback” option on the bottom left of your Admin console.
