How to prevent Google Home App from grouping all room lights into one icon??

Recent app updates seem to be making it harder to control individual lighting devices within the same room.

All the lights are grouped into one icon and you have to touch-n-hold the icon to drill into the next page followed by touching the "X lights" link and then select the light which you're interested in at the bottom.

Will be great if the app allows us to ungroup the devices, thanks.

Hey DorraJ,

Thanks for reaching out.

A quick question: can you control them individually using voice commands?

You can set a nickname for your lights or assign them to a different room so that they can be separated. We're always looking for ways to improve, visit this link for additional information.

Yes, voice control is fine for targeting individual lights in the room.

Guess for individual lights which require quick access via app, we'll need to create separate placeholder rooms for them.

Perhaps a future enhancement might be to include a "Favorites" section whereby each family member can have their own set of shortcuts for direct access to individual devices that they control regularly via app.

Hey DorraJ,

We understand how convenient that would be for our users. We're always looking for ways to improve and we appreciate your feedback. You can send your feedback on your device or on the Google Home app. If you still need assistance with your Google Nest devices, feel free to submit another post and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand as I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Kind regards,

Alex
