Indoor Nest Camera in Google Home. How do I add to Nest App?

kristinas

We have 3 indoor cameras previously set up. Just added a 4th camera. Set up on Google Home easily. BUT, need to add the camera to the Nest App. When I try to add via Nest app, it takes me to the Google Home app. I can not seem to figure out how to get this 4th camera on my Nest app. Any tips? Thank you!

@kristinas

Google Nest decided that the newer cameras and doorbells released starting in Sept. 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website. So, you cannot add your new camera to the Google Nest app.

We've had to use both apps ever since we bought a battery camera in Sept. 2021.

Wow. Wish I had of known this before buying more nest cameras. I should have known better.

can you confirm MplsCustomer response?   is this true that NEST cameras no longer work in the NEST app?

Hi there,

AMace, the 2nd gen Nest cameras and doorbells aren’t compatible with the Nest app. The 1st gen Nest cameras and doorbell can be viewed in the Google Home app. To learn more, have a look at this guide: Set up and connect Nest camera.

kristinas, I want to check if you still need help. Don't hesitate to reach back if you do.

Thanks.

So NEST cameras don't work with the NEST app?  how can they sell a product like that? its not a nest camera then, its a Google Home Camera.
