Limit voice commands to current location by default

I know this is not a new issue but I have not seen any good solutions.  I have a primary residence and a cottage.  Both have a kitchen, living room, bedroom etc.  I have avoided naming rooms the same thing in both locations but this leads to a fair amount of confusion (living room at home, family room at the cottage).  It is also not uncommon to show up at the cottage and a bunch of lights are on because I or someone else said the wrong thing.

In general it seems like controlling devices at a remote location seems like a bad idea unless you were explicit about it.  If I say "Hey Google, turn on the kitchen lights", why would I want that action taken 100 miles away without some confirmation?  Now if I said "OK Google, turn on the kitchen lights at the cottage" I would want the lights there to be turned on and a confirmation saying "OK, turning on the kitchen lights at the cottage".

If I were not at either location, I would be happy with a prompt and I would learn soon enough to add the "at <location>".

The locations are well divided in the Home app and I can clearly pick the scope when I launch the app.  There is no equivalent when I use my voice.

I would like to add more devices but dealing with the confusion of having multiple kitchens is bad enough for me but my family will not be patient enough to deal with this.  I had wondered about switching to Alexa and while not confusion free, it would simplify the problem, and ... all my devices will work with an Echo.

Hi there ktf,

I'm so sorry that you're having issues with the confusion between houses, and I understand that it can be frustrating but I'm happy to take the feedback and send it to the appropriate team as there is no current workaround since you do have separate households created within the home app.

I apologize for the confusion that surrounds this and please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
