My Google Nest Mini keeps stopping playing music

I got a nest mini as a birthday present from a friend, but it keeps stopping the music. Sometimes it stops after only 30 secconds. It also happens when I ask to play ambient sounds (that does not uses Spotify).

I live in a very small apartment and the Nest is 5 meters away from router.  My phone is updated with the latest Home and Assistant apps. My Nest Mini is updated.

I have tried:
- Resetting my Nest mini to factory reset, multiple times
- Turning Nest mini off for a couple of minutes multiple times
- Turning off/on my wifi router
- Connecting both phone and nest on 2G and also on 5G
- Resetting everything over again and again
- Disconnecting Spotify and connecting again
- Cleaning cache and data of Home app, Spotify App on phone and computer multiple times
- Removing other devices on the WiFi network

I have tried all of those with every combination my mind could think of.

This is not an issue of distance from Nest to the router, since I tried it literally 30 cm from the router with the same issue occurring.

It is also not an issue with the speed of my connection, it's 1GB and there is only my phone, another phone, and two laptops using the connection (and the other laptop only uses simple internet browsing and youtube, no one is playing games or using too much bandwidth here).

Mine is doing same thing. Factory reset. Next to router. Still stops suddenly.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with playing music. A few things I'd like to ask-- when did it start to happen? Are you experiencing this on all music services? Also, I'd like to know if this also happens when playing news, radio or podcasts?

I'll wait for your response.

Best,

Princess

Hi everyone,

We just want to check if you have seen our response on the previous post? Let us know if you have additional questions, otherwise we'll be locking the thread.

Spoke with a Google tech assistant on the phone and did a factory reset, it fixed the problem temporarily but it came back. I use YouTube to stream via Bluetooth. The issues started very shortly after the purchase of the device.

Hi Landen_Smith,

Thanks for updating us.

By any chance, do you have other network where we can try to connect your Google Nest speakers? If none, you can also try connecting it using mobile hotspot. Also, can you please verify if you're experiencing this when using other music service as well as radio, news or podcasts?

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

I do not have another network to connect it to, and unfortunately my phone does not support doing a mobile hot spot.

I have not attempted radio, news or podcasts with the Google nest, I have only used the Music app, Spotify, and YouTube.

Hi Landen_Smith,

Thanks for your response. Let's also try to play some contents from radio, news and podcasts so we can further isolate the issue. Lastly, if you're still experiencing the same, let's perform a complete reset to your Google Nest Mini to see if this will fix the issue.

Keep me posted.

Princess
