Nest Homes can't be found in Google Home app

GFunkAllstar

I created a home in the Nest app and am now attempting to delete it.  Upon trying it says "Can't remove home.  To remove this home, go to settings in the Google Home App".  Here in lays the problem... the home does not appear in the Google Home App.

1) I've deleted the Nest app and reinstalled it (iPhone) to clear cache.

2) Signed in and out of the nest app multiple times.  Including disassociating my google account with Nest and re-adding.

3) The instructions here do not work as the home does not appear in Google Home.

Any other suggestions?  I believe someone at Google needs to remove it from their servers.

Hi GFunkAllstar,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to know that you can’t remove the home you created in the Nest app because it is asking you to do it with the Google Home App, but when you go to the Google Home App, your home isn’t visible. No worries; it is my pleasure to assist you with this inconvenience.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some important questions:

Are you using the same account to manage your Nest app as the Google Home app?

Are you using a Gmail account to manage your workspace?

Could you please verify if you've migrated your Nest app to a Google account?

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna

Thanks for the reply.  To answer your questions...

-Yes I'm using the same account  to manage the nest and google home apps.

-Yes I'm using my Gmail account to manage them.

-Yes my nest app is migrated to my google account.

This particular home, which I've labeled "Zombie House" does not show up in the Google Home app.  And thus, cannot delete it.

Hi  GFunkAllstar,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Now I'm able to have a better understanding of your experience and share with you some different troubleshooting techniques to address the inconvenience you're having with the Nest and Google Home apps. Please try with the following steps:

  1. Remove both apps from your iPhone.
  2. Restart your iPhone
  3. Install the Nest app and the Google Home app.
  4. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone.
  5. From your iPhone's settings, enable Local Network for the Google Home app:
  • Go to your iPhone Settings.
  • Tap on “Privacy & Security.”
  • Select the option “Local Network.”
  • You will find a list of apps; please look for the Google Home app.
  • Turn on the Local Network Access for the Google Home app.

6.  Check the connection between your iPhone and your Google devices. They have to be about 15 to 20 feet from the Wi-Fi router. Close proximity allows for the best Wi-Fi connection possible.

7.  Make sure the devices that are in the home that you need to remove are connected to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency.

8.  Open the Google Home app and check if now you can see the home you created on the Nest app.

If the inconvenience persists, please try with the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Unplug the WiFi router from the power source for 2 minutes.
  2. Ensure that the router's lights turn off completely when unplugged. Some routers have backup battery packs, so the customer needs to disconnect the battery packs as well to ensure that the router is completely turned off.
  3. After 2 minutes, plug the router back into its power source.
  4. Once all the router lights are back on and you’re able to find the network name listed in the Wi-Fi options on your iPhone, please check if you can see the Home (created on the Nest app) in the Google Home app.

I hope that these suggestions will help to fix the problem, but if it continues, please install both apps on another mobile device, and using your Google account in both apps, check if you can remove the home you labeled as "Zombie House.".

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
