Nest app on iOS no longer works, BUT home.nest.com on chrome works perfectly

After working perfectly for over a year, the Nest app on my iphone, suddenly won't let me login.

IOS is up to date, Nest app is updated as of 7/30/24.  My Nest account was successfully migrated to Google login over a year ago.

home.nest.com works perfectly with my Google login.

Attempting to log in with the SAME Google account in IOS just goes into a loop that appears to work (including confirmation email from Google!), but just returns to the Google login page, ad infinitum...

I've rebooted the iPhone multiple times, removed the app (and it's associated data), reinstalled, rebooted, and restarted -- NO JOY!

What the heck is going on?

Bingo! That was the problem. I’m traveling and set my time back. Reset it, and was able to access the app. Thanks!

Hello @dwardio,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand the frustration of being unable to log in to the Nest app on your iPhone, especially after using it successfully for over a year. I appreciate your effort in trying to fix the issue on your own.

To help troubleshoot this issue, let's gather some information:

  • Please specify the model of your iPhone (e.g., iPhone 13, iPhone SE).
  • Are you encountering any specific error messages during the login loop?
  • Do you have two-factor authentication enabled for your Google account?
  • Did you try using another iPhone or Android device to log in?
  • Have you already tried using the Google Home app?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try in the meantime:

  1. Clear App Cache: If your iPhone allows, try clearing the Nest app's cache.
  2. Check Date & Time: Ensure your iPhone's date and time settings are accurate.
  3. Check App Permissions: Ensure the Nest app has the necessary permissions to access your Google account. You can check this in your device's settings.

Please keep me posted. I appreciate your help and patience. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge
