The Nest app stopped working on my iPhone; it still works on my iPad and my laptop PC.

I woke up this morning and could not log into the Nest app on my iPhone.  The app normally does not require me to log in.  The error message states, "Couldn't sign in.  Your e-mail or password may be incorrect.  You can try again.  If you've migrated your account or want to create a new one, sign in with Google.  Try again.  Sign in with Google."

The e-mail and password are correct.  I can still use the iPad and laptop PC apps.

I restarted the iPhone and checked the location settings.

A comment on the Apple app store states "Google is ending this apps use."

What's going on?

I logged in using my Google e-mail, and it worked.

Hey there,

Thanks for clarifying your question. You'd have to be using a gmail personal email address in order to do that and to ensure that you receive the password reset email.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Great, works for my iPhone but my new TV (TCL) with zest doesn’t allow login via google email alternative…..

Hey there,

I understand that these issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if ya'll were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

I look forward to hearing from you.

As mentioned clearly but let me repeat my problems again (hopefully you can provide solid technical suggestions or help instead asking us to repeat the issues) Since the nest app in my TLC TV device can’t login via google account- the only way to login via nest account.  Basically, I didn’t receive email reply to reset my nest account password.

Hey there,

Just to clarify, you're having an issue getting the Nest reset password email? Would you mind clarifying what domain of email address you're using? I would suggest using a https://bit.ly/37trmbH account as some other domains typically have issues with receiving those emails.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Mine stopped working too. I tried to log in but won't except my password. Sent in my email address to reset but never got a reset email. Tried this many, many times on different days. Still not able to reset password. Want to use Nest app not Google if possible.

The solution?  Since Nest is owned by Google, Google wants you to log on with your GMail account.  This is part of Google's strategy to strengthen the power of its Google Assistant.  If you are like me, you live with multiple digital "assistants" which is a pain in the ...

I can live with gmail login if some of my devices’ app allow alternative gmail login- indeed some the device ( like one of my Tv-TCL- can only access nest via nest account- no gmail login alternative- why so stupid- no my design. … I am only the victim…

The problem never been fixed or let me put it thiS way- no constructive new suggestions being provided to solve this problem apparently. Are you- from google - really trying to help? Or you are “doing your job” to say something attempts  to fool most of us?

in short- stop bs with us…. A bit too much. For us, I guess your message— stop buying nest products

Hey there Ikc,
I apologize if you are still having issues with this, I was merely trying to see if you still needed help as your responses were not indicative of that.
Would you mind letting me know what your issue is that deals with Google products?
From what you described earlier, the issue is with 3rd party products not allowing you to use a gmail login, which unfortunately, we aren't able to change anything about their login process.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Our question is simple - how to reset password of our nest account without using gmail; no email (including  sparm or junk folder) indeed received so far. Thanks, IKC

I clearly stated the issue in the original post.  I found a work-around for the issue.  Your help is appreciated but not required.

Such useless and poor prepared reply- if you pay attention in our complaints here- many of us( if not all)  have not received the email for password reset from our gmail account ( The same account can login to the nest account if the app allow alternative login); of course, most of us (who doing thing logical not like your useless answer)checked the sparm mail and can’t find it. Any real solution- talk to your boss, fix it. Don’t ask us to do your job/ we didn’t get pay from your company and instead as consumer-we paid for your products for and your salary indirectly. Do your job - don’t waste our valuable time)  for all: stop using their products- unfortunately I have 20-30 of them and I start switching….

I consider this topic closed.  The solution?  Use your GMail account to interface with Google-owned hardware.

Thanks ambit some of the app don’t support that- that is the problem; (s)he should provide solution as suggested- reset the nest account instead of ignoring us

Hey folks,
