The app doesn't have a way to delete routines

There are similar posts from 2021 and 2022 with the same question, and it's time to refresh it for you in 2023.

I have Google Home app on iPhone 12 Mini.
So I can add routines, I can delete actions from individual routines, but I can't delete routines.
There is something in common about these things:

  • "Remove" button
  • Trashcan icon
  • Holding and swiping left to delete
  • Removing a routine in the settings
  • Saying "Hey Google, delete a routine"

...and this common thing is: they don't exist.  There is no button and no icon and no option anywhere to delete routines.  I still hope that there is a way, but my 25 years of IT and UI experience are just not enough to find this way.

Hello 456е435нукеравп,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing with deleting routines. Let’s give this a try:

  • Go to https://goo.gle/2UXBOSt
  • From the options menu ≡, select other Google activity.
  • Scroll all the way to the bottom. You’ll see Google Assistant Routines and a delete button
  • Tap delete and confirm.
    • Note that this will delete all the routines you’ve set on your account.

Let me know if those routines you’re trying to delete are removed.

Regards,
Alex

Thank you for your answer.
What it did, it deleted a routine that I created (which was the only one I used).

However, the pre-defined routines (those that I was trying to ditch as they make no sense for me) such as "Good morning" and "Commuting to work" are still there.

Hi there,

We appreciate your efforts in taking the steps. I see that you are referring to the “Good morning” and “Commuting to work" routines, which are ready-made routines. They show in the Google Home app as default. There’s no option for us to delete them. We can only remove the actions set on them and choose to enable or disable them using the toggle button.

We understand that you'd like to have the option to delete them. While the specific feature you're asking for is not available, sending feedback will give our team more data that they can use to improve the overall experience of our customers using the Google Home app.

Best,
Alex
