Thank you for posting in the community! I understand that you want to turn off the Gemini for Home voice assistant and return to using Google Assistant on the Google Home app, as Gemini for Home voice assistant doesn't yet have the features you expect from your assistant. I know how disappointing it is to lose access to features you enjoy, but no worries; I am here to help.
At this moment, switching back to Google Assistant is only possible on Android devices. If you are using an iOS device, please note that once you’ve migrated to the Gemini for Home voice assistant, it is not possible to revert. Please follow these steps to switch your assistant:
Open Assistant Settings in the Google Home app:
- Open the Google Home app on your phone.
- Tap on your Profile Picture or initials in the top-right corner.
- Tap on Assistant settings. (This will open a sub-menu of your Google account's voice and assistant preferences).
Locate the Digital Assistant toggle:
- Scroll down until you see the "All settings" list.
- Look for "Digital Assistants from Google" (or in some regions, it may simply say "Gemini").
- Tap on this option. You will see a toggle or a selection screen showing both Gemini and Google Assistant.
Select Google Assistant:
- Select Google Assistant as your preferred digital assistant.
- A confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap Switch to confirm that you want to go back to the classic version.
