Unable to add simple smart plugs

Hi,

I made the mistake of updating the Google Home App.

I am unable to add simple smart plugs, like from Teckin SP27 and TP Link P110. I can use each in their own apps, Smartlife and Tapo. I currently have both types in Home, from a year or so ago, when this was possible. Now I need to add more. 😞

When I try and add any device it expects Voice Enabled devices, which these are not. Nor are they Matter enabled.

How do I add a device like one could in the old Home versions?
How do I also delete any plug from the app, that has already been removed from the linking app?

Hi @Gasman

Did you set them up with the manufacturer's app?

Once setup in the manufacturer's app, you add them to the Google Home app by linking that service:

  1. Tap the + icon at the top right.
  2. Tap Link app or service.
  3. Tap Works with Google.
  4. Search for and select the manufacturer.
  5. Login to your account with the manufacturer to link that service.

If you've already deleted a device from the manufacturers app and it still shows in the Google Home app, pull down on the app home screen to refresh your devices. If that doesn't work, try unlinking and re-linking the service.

Good day,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, the device was set up in its relevant app.

It appears that the update removed the links to those apps.
Once readded again, I could use the device in an automation.

Thank you also for the tip on how to refresh against those linked apps.
