Unable to change Google mini's name in the Google Home app.

I have both the Google Home and Google Nest apps for I have the several products in my home including four Google minis, the original Google Home, two Google nest cams (outdoor wired), the Nest thermostat E and a Google Nest hub. Most recently I had rebooted one of my Google minis and re-added it to my Google Home app. When it asks what room I'm adding it to it asked me to give it a special name in which I do BUT It reverts to the name of the room followed by the word "speaker" When showing on the home app. I have hit the settings button and then the device information button and it shows the name that I put in to it but when I click on it to change it it reverts it back to the name of the room + speaker. It causes an issue when I'm trying to do things in between several of my Google devices. The name refuses to change. Any ideas?

Hi Silly,

Can you please try opening the Google Home app > long press on the device icon you want to change > Tap on the settings cog ⚙️ icon > select 'Device information' > select name > change the device name and press save afterwards (screenshot below).

I have the same issue with my Google Nest hub second edition.

When changing names on the device information page the name is updated on the device information page only. However when pressing name again, the old name is still prefilled.

Sorry for hijacking, I just thought my contribution could be helpful.

Feel free to respond to my issue in my own thread to allow this thread to be dedicated to the original post.

I had trouble with this and finally got it fixed.  I done a reset of the gen 2 by holding the up and down volume buttons and follow prompts to reset.

Thanks. Not a solution, but a descent workaround.

I don't need help to change the names, but the issue needs to be resolved by Google to avoid requiring a 15 minutes workaround to change name when there's a function supposed to do just that. I don't know how to label the issue.
