which email is connected to nest

We have had our nest hooked up for about 5 years.  I would like to be able to actually use it with my phone like I had done in the past.  I'm not sure why I cannot use my email.  I initially signed up with a msn account but now it continually asks for google acct.  Is there a new software that need to be updated...... I am so confused.

Sorry to hear about the troubles you're having with your Nest device, I'm sure it's confusing, but I'm happy to help. 

I understand that you have an msn account, however, creating a Gmail account that you can use to create a Nest account would be the best solution so that you can get the features that you are wanting to access.
