2nd Gen wired - wiring without chime or old doorbell

I am clarifying my wiring for a 2nd gen Nest Doorbell (wired) before actually connecting.

My system has NO chime or existing doorbell - just a suitable spec transformer.  I am replacing a Nest wired doorbell 1st gen because the microphone has died.

The wiring for the 1st gen chime puck was much easier to understand, and that doorbell worked well for several years.

For the 2nd gen, it looks like the puck goes in series between the transformer and the Nest doorbell.  Is this correct?

If there's no existing chime, you install it the same way you would with a chime, just without the chime essentially. So where the wires would typically connect to the chime, they just connect to each other. Google has some typical wiring diagrams which I'll link below.
