2nd gen Nest wired doorbell motion too early

I tried to reply to an older post on this but it appears to be closed, so starting to new conversation to see if there's any updates to this issue: The motion notifications on the new Home app for the 2nd gen Nest wired doorbell are worthless because it only give you a small initial snippet/GIF of the person just starting to walk toward the door, then it stops. The video is just too early, and not long enough to show anything useful happening. Then if you actually tap on that motion notification it only shows you the first few seconds of them approaching, then stops right before the person actually gets to the door or does anything. If you try to investigate further by going into the app it tells you the video isn't available yet. So every time I just miss someone walking up to the door, I not only can't tell when they just did (because the video snippet is too early and cuts off) but I can't do a quick review because the full video isn't available for like 1-2 minutes, by which time the person is long gone. Is this still an ongoing problem that Google still hasn't fixed? It's very annoying and renders the doorbell cam almost useless for monitoring real time activity. This happens on ALL devices running the new version of the Home app. And yes, I've already submitted feedback through the Home app many times.

Hi Jako607,

Thanks for posting. I apologize for the inconvenience — let's get this sorted out.

A few questions: do you have an iOS or Android device? Are you signed into the Google Home app or Nest app? Did it work in the past? Also, how is the Wi-Fi connection in that part of the house?

Keep me posted, and I’ll be happy to help.

Best,

Lance

No it seems the unfortunate answer is "it's a feature not a bug". Only Google would think that 2 back to back notifications for the same thing makes sense. It's about par for the course with the new Nest doorbell and Home app, considering they can't even get the motion notification videos to be timed correctly. I'll wait patiently for Google to never fix it, or more likely, kill the app altogether. Thanks for the response though!
