Google home has always worked well for me. 1 old smart speaker, 1 small hub display, chromecast and some integration with velux
I thought i'd add a second gen wired doorbell and a new hub max
The hub max seemed to go in ok though i cant get the face recognition to work, but the doorbell......
Tried at first to install it into Home - that didnt work
Installed it into Nest - that worked ok but i couldn't get home to recognise it in Nest despite the names and structure (Home/Home) being the same (all the advice is - it should just automatically appear).
So i removed it from Nest and tried again from Home. I go right through all the install steps (manually putting in the QR code because the scanning takes me straight to an error) only to get 'something went wrong' try again.
Have reset the camera
Have restated the Iphone
Now my display is saying 'go to Home and link account. What accounts? Can find a 'link account feature anywhere in Home.
Any help appreciated on the doorbell issue and the link account issue
Thanks

What doorbell do you actually have, the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell (https://store.google.com/us/product/nest_doorbell?pli=1&hl=en-US), or the 1st Gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell (https://www.amazon.com/Google-Nest-Doorbell-Wired-Streaming/dp/B0B1W8WTJ2/).
I'm asking because you simply cannot install 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Nest app, so I don't understand what happened when you tried.
It seems like you have several issues going on. You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

Thanks
So i bought this yesterday off the google website - i assumed it was a second generation 1 but looking at your images i think it looks more like the first. This is the link
https://store.google.com/product/nest_doorbell_wired?hl=en-GB
After much help last night and resetting and reinstalling i did get it to work in nest and in Home. I guess that supports your view that it is the first gen. I'm not sure though why google are selling 'old' versions of the doorbell (and there is no option to buy a second generation one).
Thanks again

I'm glad you got it to work.
Your link points to the 2nd gen versions of the Google Nest Doorbell.
Google Nest is not selling the 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell anymore, though people can get it on sites like Amazon and Etsy.

That's interesting - thank you.
It seems to be working as it should now so i am going to fit it to the door.
As an aside, it is definitely in the Nest App and i can view it (and the camera on my hub max), through Nest (if I want to). That was the only way i could find to successfully get it into Home. Home and nest seem to ;ink because there are various jump offs from home to nest (and vice versa). I did have some difficulty in getting the Home/structure the same in both Apps and that perhaps caused some of my difficulties.
Thank you again for your help

If you installed your doorbell in the Google Nest app, then you have the 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell. (We have 3 of those.) I'm surprised that you got that from the Google website yesterday, since your link points to the 2nd gen doorbells, and they're supposedly not selling Nest Hellos anymore.
FYI: You can view 1st gen cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app and view event history, but you can't see 24/7 history and you can't change Settings. You can also livestream 1st gen cameras and doorbells on the home.google.com website. For full access to 1st gen cameras and doorbells, you need to use the Google Nest app and the home.nest.com website.
Google Nest is in the middle of a very gradual process of letting customers try out moving some of their 1st gen cameras from the Google Nest app to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, but if you do so, you'll lose many of the functions available only in the Google Nest app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features😞
